Meeting at the Scottish Parliament
2 representatives of the parent support group and the former Head of School met with Education & Skills Committee last night to discuss the closure of the school. As well as considering the impact on pupils and families, the group set-out the grounds for an independent investigation to examine the actions of the Care Inspectorate, Education Scotland, The Registrar for Independent Schools, the Board of Governors, and Perth & Kinross Council.
The committee appeared to share their concerns and were not at all surprised to learn that the May 2018 inspection findings did not match the final grades, or the views of staff, pupils, or parents.
A later meeting of the full committee discussed the widespread concerns of parents and professionals that there has been a significant decline in the quality of local authority ASN provision which was linked not only to diminishing resources but to a lack of leadership and strategic direction.
The committee suggested that the best route to an investigation might be to petition parliament, given the broader concerns about the professionalism of the organisations which contributed to the closure of the school.
