Head of School message
I want to thank you again for all the support that you and the Support Group have provided over the last few weeks and for all the hard work that has been done in trawling through FOI documentation. It has meant a lot to me and to my colleagues.
I am still trying to determine what, if any, ‘failings’ there may have been at the school to cause demands from the Registrar of Independent Schools and the Care Inspectorate, and which ultimately led to the clsoure of the school. So far, I have drawn a blank.
I have also received tremendous support from managers in other independent provisions who state unanimously that they understand how and why the school closed and that it clearly had nothing to do with safeguarding concerns. There is some choice language with respect to their opinion of the regulators but I will not share that!
My only concern just now is that we appear to have been forced into referencing the Feb 2017 tragedy. I can understand this but urge caution given the sensitive nature of the issues involved and the current needs of the family.
However badly we may feel that PKC have behaved over the last few months, I would be inclined to leave this matter for others to consider, but will demand that former school staff are involved in any inquiry that takes place into the awful events of that day.
